What's new?

June 1

June 1 is a painful and traumatic day for many in our community. This year’s Boulder Jewish Festival will begin with a period of reflection on the June 1, 2025, antisemitic attack. Read a reflection on what I've observed since last year here.

Also this week

Share challenges and opportunities related to aging through in‑person and online conversations throughout June. Find dates and information here.

Boulder residents can apply for up to $5,000 to support community‑led art projects in their neighborhood. Click here for more information.

Upcoming Topics

Council and the Planning Board will hold a joint public hearing on the major update to the Boulder Valley Comprehensive Plan. The Council will also consider moving new festival permit rules to a June 18 hearing and take a final vote on updates that strengthen protections for Boulder’s watershed and drinking water.

Recent Decisions

Council agreed to bring the airport land question to a public hearing and asked the City Attorney to clarify the Council’s role in decisions that place encumbrances on city‑owned land. Council also asked for clearer explanation of the financial impacts of a possible Downtown Development Authority, including how redirecting future tax growth from downtown would affect other city services and taxing entities.

Community kudos

Congratulations to Open Space and Mountain Parks on officially reopening the Marshall Mesa trailhead. The new trailhead features more parking for cars and bikes, a bike repair station, a covered picnic area, and much more. You can get there via the Eldo Shuttle on weekends and holidays if you don't want to drive or bike.

Quote for the month

That we not hide behind the mockeries of separations that have been imposed upon us and which so often we accept as our own...it is not difference which immobilizes us, but silence.
